Welcome to the Kentucky Alternative Livestock Association (KALA)

There is something new on the farms of Kentucky, and it is the fastest growing alternative livestock business in the nation, with a total economic impact of 3 billion dollars annually.

A small but growing number of Kentucky farmers are raising Deer and Elk for breeding stock, genetic improvement and other by-products such as venison, scents, antlers, hides, etc.

KALA is also dedicated to the promotion of deer & elk farming as an agricultural & agro-tourism pursuits and serves its members through its educational programs, publications, the protection of private property rights and by providing leadership. KALA is setting and maintaining quality standards, in breeding, raising, harvesting, and marketing of farm raised cervid.

KALA is also a collective voice in governmental issues that affect Kentucky whitetail deer & elk producers.

We encourage all people who are associated with farming deer and elk, breeders, hunters, feed companies, veterinarians or whitetail enthusiast to join our association.

Thank You
